I am a children’s picture book author and illustrator, based in Co. Antrim in the UK. My books are aimed at 1-7 year old children. Most of my books feature a cast of dinosaurs and other creatures, and the majority are written in rhyme, with vibrant original watercolour illustrations. Other books include birds, and events inspired by my grandchildren's escapades.
If a child is never read to, they will have heard, on average, 4,500 words by the time they are 5 and will struggle when they get to Primary School. If they are read to several times a day, they will have heard up to 1.5 million words by the time they are 5, and learning to read for themselves should come easily.
So read to your child from the start!
